Our Philosophy We focus our philosophy around "Te
Whãriki"which is a New Zealand based early childhood
framework founded on the following aspirations for children "to grow up
as a competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in
mind, body, and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the
knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society". Our aim is to provide programs that meet the needs of individual children, their families and the community. We aim to provide a healthy, safe,
caring,
stimulating, trusting and welcoming environment for each child, to
compliment the family unit. We have also introduced aspects of the Reggio Emilia curriculum (based in Northern Italy) which recognises the potential of young children to question, reflect, problem solve, theorise, experiment and express their findings. When provided with sufficient opportunities, time, space and materials to experiment and explore, children master the many tools and skills of communication and are able to actively translate what they perceive not only through the spoken word but through other languages such as drawing, sculpture, drama and movement as symbolic representations of their discoveries about the world. We embrace diversity and
respect all children and families regardless of their race, colour,
creed,
socio-economic environment, physical attributes and additional needs.
